When you read the definition of commute, it does not specify the transportation. Someone told me that walking toward your workplace is also considered as commuting. Does commuting.

In AmE, I often heard "pizza shop" instead of "pizzeria". What is the difference between them? If no, which one is more common in colloquial AmE? Thank you.
In BrE, in the UK, "in the sticks" implies a provincial place, by implication a long way from anywhere/civilization - it could even refer to the commuter belt round London.
I've definitely heard 'geezer' and 'geeze' either from older people or from second generation Essex/commuter belt cockneys, including younger people. But I think in general it enjoys.
